Cocora Valley is a natural landscape located in a mountainous valley in the Central Cordillera of Colombia, specifically in the department of Quindio, being part of the National Park Los Nevados Andes. It is the main home of Colombia's national tree, the wax palm of Quindio (Ceroxylon quindiuense) and a variety of flora and fauna, much of it endangered, protected under natural national park status. The valley and the nearby town of Salento, are among the main tourist destinations in Colombia.

 

 

Cocora Valley is located between the upper courses of Quindio River, the main river course of the homonymous department, at an altitude between 1800 and 2400 meters above sea level. The valley is located at a distance of 24 kilometers northeast of the provincial capital, Armenia, in the municipality of Salento, is also located

 

 

Due to its altitude and the special feature that brings the fact that western winds from the Pacific delocéano are stopped by the Andes Mountains, the valley of Cocora presents a moist environment conducive to the development of an ecosystem of cloud forest at higher elevations; thus, rain occurs almost daily. The average annual temperature is 15 ° C, with a maximum of 25 ° C and a low of -2 ° C.
