Villa de Leyva is located about 150 kilometers north of Bogotá and about four hours by road, passing through the stunning scenery of the route de la Sabana.

 

Modern construction is scarce among Spanish colonial whitewashed walls that surround the cobblestone streets, terracotta tiles and shadow cascades of flowers that hang over balconies painted green. The main center of town is one of the largest cobbled squares in all of South America and hosts numerous events and exhibitions such as kite festival and the spectacular festival of lights when the sky lights up with thousands of fireworks.

 

Outside Villa de Leyva there turquoise pools can be found Muiscas ancient religious sites and prehistoric fossils, there are several possibilities for the more adventurous trekking
